Two films by Aleksandar F. Stasenko at Il Cinema Ritrovato 2026

Aleksandar F. Stasenko’s Put (The Road, 1977) and Miting u Odjelu IV F (A Meeting in Department IV F, 1972) were selected for Il Cinema Ritrovato in Bologna and screened in the programme 3 Shorts by Aleksandar F. Stasenko.

Put, restored by ATER for the Croatian State Archives – Croatian Cinematheque, is a poetic documentary about a family who spent seven years building a road through the rocky landscape of Mosor to their remote hamlet.

Miting u Odjelu IV F, Stasenko’s first professional film, was produced by Zagreb Film in 1972 and offers a striking insight into confrontational group therapy for alcoholics in Yugoslavia at the time.

The selection brought Stasenko’s distinctive cinema, shaped by the Mediterranean landscape, solitude and human perseverance, to one of the world’s leading festivals dedicated to film heritage and restoration.

Nikola Tanhofer’s film H-8... featured in Venice Classics 2021

Director Nikola Tanhofer’s film H-8… is the first domestic title to be included in the prestigious Venice Classics and the Classici fuori Mostra programmes. The restoration was done at studios Ater and Klik Film in Zagreb.

The 1960 fiction feature, The Ninth Circle, by Slovenian director France Štiglic, a Jadran Film studio production, to screen in the Cannes Film Festival programme Cannes Classics. The programme showcases newly restored film classics.
